Porto has one of the best vibes you will ever meet. So, as any city with a lot of personality, Porto presents you a beautiful vintage style store near the Clérigos tower. After you finish this article, if you don’t feel the need to pack your bags and fly to this city, we didn’t achieve our purpose!

“A Vida Portuguesa e Fernandes Matos” was founded in 2007 in Lisbon and was considered one of the most brilliant creations of recent years. This vintage shop resurrected and gave a showcase for products that were part of all Portuguese homes, assuming the role of guardian of our traditions and true depository of ‘Lusa’ soul.

In November 2009, they opened a second store, this time, in the beautiful life zone of the Clérigos, in downtown Porto. “A Vida Portuguesa” and “Fernandes Matos” are two inseparable shops because they are both located in the building where formerly age-old fabric “Fernandes Mattos & Ca Ltd” used to be situated. This last unique vintage fabric was founded in 1886 in the same it remains today, Porto.

However, as the time passed by, the fabric store was not very successful, so that took us to where we are today: the merge of these 2 stores. On the ground floor of the building is the Fernandes Mattos, a vintage store withdrawal of our childhood, where it’s possible to find all kinds of vintage decoration and products with a contemporary design vibe.

“A Vida Portuguesa”, on the first floor, is one of the most tempting shops in downtown Porto, and it is practically impossible to get out without doing some vintage style shopping. Meaning, you can’t leave with anything in your hands. Portuguese traditional brands mark points through, for example, Bordallo Pinheiro’s famous porcelain swallow and the heady Claus Porto soaps.

Portuguese food products are also represented there, for example, the Gorreana tea and the ‘Regina’ Chocolates– if you don’t know these chocolates, OH MY GOD, you really should! We can never explain in detail everything that’s inside that Porto vintage store, but we can tell you our favorite things! Of course: vintage clothing, little Volkswagen decor vans and those small canned boxes that grandmas use to store cookies.
