An American design firm, Home Studios, designed one the most spectacular vintage interior designs we’ve ever seen. The junction of cocktail’s, cinema and decor was a blast of the gods and why not show it to the world? Using ribbed surfaces, soft colours and teardrop-shaped details to create an interior that looks part postmodern cafe and part Viennese speakeasy, this is the one you need to visit when you’re in town.
The soft vintage colour palette makes this an inspiring one. Making room for small talk, big dreams or even a business talk seem to fit perfectly into the place. Named Bibo Ergo Sum, in Latin, this translates as “I drink, therefore I am”, the bar is the first to open in West Hollywood’s recently revamped Robertson Plaza. A drinking spot where locals can sip cocktails from an ever-changing menu in a relaxed and quirky setting.
The interior offers a range of inspiration. From Vienna’s architecture from 1900’s, vintage French films and the aesthetic presence of the 1967 movie “The Graduate” were some of the cinema references the firm used to turn this dream bar come true.
The Hollywood cocktail bar wants to bring an exclusive yet familiar experience to every customer. “Everything from the rigid symmetry of the space, to the strict colour palette, to the tinted lighting and glass, as well as the blacked-out ceiling are meant to create an experience as transportive as a trip to the cinema.”, says one of the designers.
In the four corners of the bar, booth seating is formed by semi-enclosed areas. With ribbed cushioning coloured light pink, forming backrests for the built-in seating. In between, high wall-mounted tables for two each have their own mirrored backdrop and domed pendant lamp above.
All of the furnishings and fixtures of the West Hollywood bar are custom designed and made for space. “The result is a dynamic blend of surreal details, unexpected materials and dramatic proportions that deliver a completely unique aesthetic,” said a statement from the bar.
