Maison et Objet is back on track with some of the most amazing design webinars, and Vintage Industrial Style Blog is here to update you! On the 18th of June, 2020, the renowned Italian design studio, Studiopepe, was inveted to be part of a new feature of M&O. “Desires for the Home” was the theme of the webinar, a different approach of what our home represent to us nowadays and how we’re rediscovering it as the center of our lives.

“A place where we shelter and rest but also work and play”, claims Studiopepe. The pandemic crisis affected us all, however this is one more challenge in our lives: see how humankind is able to react in a difficult situation. Without rough times, we would never evolve. There is why it’s crucial to see things in a different perspective, and yesterday the Italian design studio showed us how we can manage to do it.

Behind every Studiopepe design is a story that makes that product or project quite unique. All of their designing processes begin with detail or an idea that they saw in one of their famous adventures. From that point, Chiara and Arianna not only investigate a specific age of history but also debate some of their favorite details. The next step is to develop something that blurs the boundaries of the real and imaginary world. From their vast selection of design projects, “Out of the Blue” might be one of the most memorable ideas yet!

“Studiopepe’s vision is based upon experimenting, continuous research on colors and materials and the contamination with the contemporary language of art. Installations, study of formal archetypes, experiments with materials and the dialogue between opposites are some of the themes developed by the Studio”.

From interior design projects to product design and creative consulting services for some of the best luxury design brands, the designers feature a unique signature style that captures the attention of any design lovers. Their design philosophy is based on a conceptual approach inspired by the unexpected, and on an extensive iconographic and visionary background, creating projects that are one of a kind.

The webinar started with the designers talking about some of the most famous design works, the first one was about the award-winning project, Les Arcanistes. According to the Italian designers, this design project was named after the ante-litteram chemists, who held the arcane and secret knowledge of formulas able to create porcelain and to work with materials such as glass and metals. The goal was simple: to provide a special experience. This beautiful design project by Studiopepe showcased some of the best bespoke furniture designs, re-editions of historical pieces, art pieces, and more.

The ceremony happened yesterday in Paris, and the project “Les Arcanistes”, from Studiopepe, was the big winner of the award for Best Design Collaboration 2020! The CDA is “a peer to peer award program with the intent to celebrate extraordinary work in the interior design, product design and architecture fields”.

Les Arcanistes was Studiopepe’s Manifesto Project for Milan Design Week 2019 and it’s a project in a large industrial space, “a former gold manufacture dating back to the 1900s“! The designers have worked with Manifestos before, and they are particulary different due to all the details and storytelling. In this specific project, golden finishes were one of the most important features, because, like the designers said, “gold is more than a material, it is a state of mind”.

This special project’s goal is to provide a special experience: Te Experience of Les Arcanistes. A sequence of spaces: “the Source of the Vibrational Water, the Materioteca, the Alchemic Laboratory and the Mantica Society”, Studiopepe.

In the past years, they feel that they have evolved as designers by working with product design and how it can make a difference in a project.

Chiara claimed that she doesn’t feel 100% safe in a restaurant, and such liker her, many people are feeling the same. Thus, it means that we’re spending – and will spend – more time at home. Companies have adopted teleworking during quarantine, and they have stated that it has increased productivity – the workspace of the future has just changed. Home office has come to stay, so this means that the concept of house we’re used to is changing – a place where we can both live and work.

We’ll receive people from work at home to have business meetings, we throw a special dinner with family and friends, instead of heading to the restaurant, etc. The rooms no longer have only one purpose, in fact, the goal is to make them funtional so they we can adapt them depending of our needs.

Working from home is not always easy, and the designers decided to share with us some easy tricks so we can be focused, and still feel inspired and motivated … at home!

“The important thing is to have two different corners” and light is the answer! Are you curious? Continue reading!

“The trick is to create a diferente corner. I moved following the sun, because my house has east and west (…) according to the different moments, I moved the table, chairs, and I discovered space and corners I’ve never experienced. You have to move yourself in your home like you were outsider” “Everything has changed. You don’t have a specialized room. Before you had a kitchen where you only cooked. Now, you can work in the kitchen, or have a meal in the studio. You discover more space (and) you can create diferente spaces. Light in this case, can change the room”, claimed the designer.

“Living an experience is the basis of The Visit, the experience of entering a space that tells the story of the people living there, not so much through fictitious signs of a life lived, but through the careful, meticulous stratification of signs, codes, and visions. For us, this, is a “home” in the deeper sense of the word, whether it be a private home or a boutique hotel, or any place related to the concept of welcoming and storytelling”, said the designers.
