Born in Zibello (Parma) in 1965, Carlo Donati studied architecture at the Politecnico of Milan where he graduated in 1992. A few years later, in 1995 moved to New York where, as a consultant architect of Versace Group, he renovates Gianni Versace’s townhouse and the historic Vanderbilt Mansion, the main flagship store on the Fifth Avenue. Featuring an impressive portfolio filled with the best residential, hospitality and commercial projects, the interior designer became one of Milan’s most distinguished professionals thanks to his unique signature style.
Carlo Donati is consided an Italian legend due to all his design projects spread all over the world, with a unique perspective. He is focused on different types of interior design projects that highlight the power of fine craftsmanship techniques and the beauty of the mid-century modern style.
During his twenties, the Italian designer started working for historic architectural firms in Milan, such as Studio BBPR and Gregotti. A few years later, in 1995, Carlo Donati moved to New York to be the consultant architect of one of the most famous luxury design groups in the world, also known as Versace. Whether it is a contemporary, mid-century or modern ideas, Carlo Donati‘s minimalist approach is always contaminated by chromatic and graphic suggestions in every design project. He believes that the mid-century era was the time where the best design ideas emerged thanks to its elegance and lightness reference points.
