NORTH CONWAY VILLAGE, NEW HAMPSHIRE: CONWAY SCENIC RAILROAD

ESSEX, CONNECTICUT: ESSEX STEAM TRAIN

Operated by the Valley Railroad Company since 1971, this train route takes you on a lovely trip through the Connecticut River Valley. From May-October, you can enjoy a nostalgic journey by steam train AND riverboat but also weekends in spring, summer, and fall. In the winter, the line hosts special holiday events.

DURANGO, COLORADO: DURANGO AND SILVERTON RAILROAD

This much-loved train has been in continuous operation between the towns of Durango and Silverton since 1882. Even more impressive? The majestic vistas enjoyed from the splendor of the antique train cars.

NEW MEXICO AND COLORADO: CUMBRES & TOLTEC SCENIC RAIL ROAD

Ranked as one of the top train rides in America, this national historic landmark travels between Colorado and New Mexico. The 2017 season starts in May and continues through October, but December visitors can enjoy the annual Christmas trains.

PENINSULA, OHIO: CUYAHOGA VALLEY SCENIC RAILROAD

One of the oldest tourist excursion railways in the country, this railroad takes you on a peaceful three-hour trip through the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

SKAGWAY, ALASKA: FRASER MEADOWS STEAM EXCURSION

When it comes to natural wonders, few states can come close to the most unbelievable views that Alaska offers.

HYANNIS, MASSACHUSETTS: CAPE COD CENTRAL RAILROAD

Back east, charming cranberry red-an-yellow engines take passengers through the captivating scenery of Cape Cod. Sights include cranberry bogs, sand dunes, woodlands, and the Cape Cod Canal.
